Road Closures & Detours

How your neighborhood may be affected:

  • Through lanes may be closed or reduced

  • Sidewalks at intersections may be closed

  • A detour option will be provided if roads are closed to through traffic

  • On-street parking may be restricted

Arterial and Collector Resurfacing Project - Phase 3

The Pavement Rehabilitation Program is geared toward improving the pavement of the existing City roadways. 

Construction of Phase 3 to begin in June of 2020 and continue through to next Calendar Year. Improvements will include roadway resurfacing and maintenance treatments, Pedestrian Bulbout and Curb Ramps, Signal detection improvements, and striping at select locations throughout the project limits. Impacts to roadways and pedestrian facilities will occur but will be minimized to the extent possible. Advance notice will be provided to affected properties and advanced warning signs will be posted to alert motorists of scheduled work. 

Phase 3 Project to be funded with a combination of Measure X in Monterey County and Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Act (also know as SB1) funds.

Monterey Peninsula Water Supply Project

California American Water is working on the installation of 5,300 feet of a water transmission main pipeline. For more information on the project visit their website at:

Paving work on General Jim Moore and Lightfighter Avenue is anticipated to begin on January 6.


Canyon Del Rey Sanitary Sewer Line Replacement

Beginning Monday, April 27, 2020 commuters should expect traffic delays on Canyon Del Rey Boulevard. Sanitary sewer work will begin in earnest along Canyon Del Rey Boulevard and traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Hilby Avenue and Harcourt Avenue. Construction will be occurring during normal work hours and drivers should expect traffic delays until July 8th.
